Kulit

Silly pictures of Ajing and Deza.

Madaling makatanda at may common sense.

***

my friends and i are planning a diff bday celeb early next year. we planned on going to Tagaytay, sa SMH where one of my friends work. charity churva ang plano namin. bale collaboration (haha wala lang parang magandang gamitin kasi) ng 2 ko pang kaibigan na mag birthday ng Jan, Feb and then ako March. gusto namin kasi something diff naman tapos makakatulong pa. so we'll be doing a mini program siguro for them and some loot bags.

(babe do you still have that one? can you pls post it here?)

SATC 2!!

Oooh can't wait for this movie!!! I so love Sex and the City.

I remember watching this with Mikoy. Good thing we both love the movie otherwise I will watch this chic flick all by myself. Yes, this is the kind of movie that I can watch even when I am alone. Just like Harry Potter.

I had mixed emotions - being in love when you're not yet in love and falling more deeply in love when you're in a relationship; appreciating your friends even more, that you have good friends beside you; and the sadness that loneliness can bring when your heart is broken..aww..hahaha.

Happy Birthday Mikoy!

My scrumpy,

TYVM for the wonderful gift(s) especially the video(s)!

I did not expect the heartfelt messages from your officemates friends na puro happy birthday lang naman at wala man lang regalo hehe. Thank you guys! Keep it up! hehehe.

Hayaan niyo may bibingka kayo sa akin next year!

***

My baby. Thank you sa hikaw. Next time. Please be more neat and organized. hehehe. Kasi you used recycled paper. Save mother earth!

Thank you guys for making my birthday ispeysyal - parang bibingka lang. Mwah!

Note: Sa 04Jan pa po ang birthday. Still accepting gifts til EOD ng 04Jan. REAL GIFTS ha hindi iyung pang-CAFE WORLD at FARMVILLE! :)

Something Right

Never thought that I’d be so inspired
Never thought that I would find a higher truth
I believed that love was overrated
‘Till the moment I found you

Now baby I know I don’t deserve the love you give me
but now I understand that

If you want me
I must be doing something right
I’ve got nothing left to prove
And it’s all because of you
So if you need me and baby I make you feel alive
I know I must be doing,
Doing something right

It’s because of you I feel so lifted
I’ve been looking at my life from higher ground
Never thought that I’d be so elated
You’re the one who turned it all around

Now baby I didn’t know myself until you changed me
It made me understand that

And baby I know I don’t deserve the love you give me
But I don’t really care ‘cause..

So if you need me and baby I make you feel alive
I know I must be doing
I know I must be doing
Doing something right

7 Dwarfs

Mikoy's 7 dwarfs:

1. Dopey
2. Sneezy
3. Bashy
4. Grumpy
5. Oldie
6. Mutie
7. ...

hahahaha

But their real names are:

1. Dopey
2. Sneezy
3. Happy
4. Grumpy
5. Bashful
6. Doc
7. Sleepy

Vampires

Couldn't get enough of vamps. I just watched New moon last weekend and all I can say is - it sucks! Well, the truth is, I just watched it because of Jacob Black portrayed by Taylor Lautner. Aww! I even have a print out of his picture and posted it in my cube. Everytime I glanced at him - "aww don't look at me like that, I melt" hahaaha lantod!

Oh, because of Dakota Fanning too.

Anyway, I've been reading The Vampire Diaries of L.J. Smith right now. I'm on the second book. Lent the first book to SG last week.

Love the character of Damon, the antagonist in the story and my "love" hahaha. He's the one on the left. I just so love his eyes. He's ruggedly handsome :)

The story on the tv series is different on the book that I am reading so I get confuse sometimes haha but I still watch and read it anyway.

The books:

Wondering why Mermaid is the logo of Starbucks?

The new logo

The old logo

I was asking Mikoy before why SB chose mermaid as the logo? Asked Mr. Google and here's what I found:

Starbucks is a company, which is well known throughout the globe. Known mostly for their coffee, the Starbucks brand The Starbucks logo shows a green band with two stars and a crowned Siren in the center of the logo. It is haunting yet attractive and recognized throughout the world, and provides an excellent lesson in logo design.

Brief History of Starbucks Logo

Designed by Terry Heckler of Heckler Associates, the iconic mermaid that beckons coffee drinkers was based of a classic 15th century Norse woodcut of the mythical siren. The hardy yet feminine look was perfect for the Pacific Northwest local. Evoking the local lumber industry’s history in the area coupled with an inviting face, the logo was a perfect fit

However, the finely crafted corporate identity soon faced challenges. How do you place a bare breasted siren on the side of a truck? Modify! Eventually, the siren’s hair was lowered to cover the bare-chested icon. Then the suggestive pose of the mermaid, posed a unique branding challenge during Starbucks rapid expansion. What had seemed a clever and folksy design in Seattle was considered risqué in other parts of the country? Modify Again! Soon, the offending pose was slightly altered, and then eventually the pose completely obscured.

Evolution of new redesigned Starbucks logo

The current Starbucks logo that the world knows today now focuses on the warm and inviting face of the mermaid, rather than her body. The iconic cigar band outline remains, framing one of the most famous corporate identities in the world. The story of the Heckler Associates modification and re imagination of each subsequent logo design is necessary for anyone interested in logos and branding.

MELASON Tandem :)

I really, really LOVE these two....

Wasn't able to watch their performance in ASAP last Sunday (but they were performing inside the confession room) so searched for it in Youtube. Kinilig ako promise hahaha

Ribs and Destiny

I just wanna share the homily shared by the priest during Char's wedding last weekend.

nice.....

Congrats Char and Dar :)

Coron Adventures - Part III

Day 3 - (14Nov)

Started with one of the wrecks. Malabo sa ilalim kasi malalim.

Tapos diretso kami s Calomboyan Island to have lunch. Medyo umulan ng konti kaya sumilong kami pero after that labas na rin ulit. May konting current kaya hirap lumangoy.

I enjoyed snorkeling here kasi literal na may garden sa ilalim!

This time medyo mababaw lang ung wreck kaya kahit nasa boat lang si Mikoy nakita niya pa rin. Dove to see the whole ship. Medyo malabo yung kuha namin dito eh.

Sabi ni Jason (our tour guide) secretly dadalhin daw niya kami sa hidden hot spring behind the mangroves. Sabi ko sige ikaw ang bahala.

Maliit lang ung spring pero mainit nga siyang talaga although not as hot as Maquinit. Kakatuwa iyong little boy na Brit na kasama namin kasi kumakanta siya ng 'Maligayang Bati' with a twang of course :)

Didn't stay long, headed back to the port. Paguwi naligo agad then pahinga muna. Nag-alarm na lang kami for dinner. After kumain, naglakad kami papuntang market na 5-10mins walk lang from village lodge. Di na kami naginternet kasi talagang pagod na. Tutal for 2 days naman daw ang sinalang niya the night before.

Inayos ko na ang gamit namin for the next day para toiletries na lang ang idadagdag namin.

*****

Last day namin, after we had breakfast, diretso kami ng airport.

Hayy... Manila. Manny Paquiao won daw. Congrats Krista este Manny hehe!

Coron Adventures - Part II

Day 2 - (13Nov)

After breakfast, went straight to the Twin Lagoon. Wasn't able to get a good picture underwater dahil kapag gumalaw ka, ung water lumalabo talaga. Ung tubig parang may mantika although di naman malagkit alam niyo un? May part na mainit then malamig. You have to swim in between rocks (pa high tide na kaya di na pwde dumaan ang boat) to get through the other lagoon. This lagoon for me is not that good compared to the twin lagoons I saw in El Nido 2yrs ago.

Inconsiderate. Anyways, nauna kaming umalis sa kanila.

Off we go to Kayangan Lake na pinaakyat ulit kami ng mga 120+ steps to get to the other side. Sa loob-loob ko (kelan kaya matatapos itong trekking namin? hehe) But then again, kung ganung kagandang view naman ang matatanaw mo why not?! Dito yung sinasabi kong pinagmamalaki nilang mga rock formations underwater.

Next on the itinerary is Siete Pecados (7 islands) Dito di rin masyado nagtagal kasi bumibigay na ako. Nakakapagod kaya lumangoy. Since hindi naman ako isda (I am a mermaid) eh napapagod din ako noh.

Ang dami kong nakitang Nemo!!! Sabi ni Mikoy kaya ba Nemo kasi from aNEMOne?

Me: No, its actually clown fish. Nemo is from the Pixar movie Finding Nemo.

hehe.

So after dinner, naglakad-lakad muna kami. Safe naman daw maglakad doon.

Kahit paika-ika lakad lang. Saw a plaza na may ginagawang Christmas Tree (na sobrang bagal ata ng paggawa dahil nung 3rd day namin at nadaanan namin 2nd layer pa lang ng tree ang gawa) Nywei, saw Kayangan Grill Station.

Mikoy: pasok tayo tignan natin.

Ordered frozen margarita for me, iced tea for Mikoy, Crispy Kangkong and leche flan. Wala lang trip lang namin talaga.

Before heading back to the room, nag -internet si Mikoy, waited lang outside kasi di ko na kaya at mainit sa loob eh. Mga 930pm balik na kami dahil PBB na :)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Coron Adventures

Coron - DAY 1 (12Nov)

Arrived in Coron at 12pm. Checked in at CORON VILLAGE LODGE owned by Ms. BEC Fernandez. Had late lunch of Sinigang na baboy, 3 grilled tanguige and iced tea at isang planggana ata ng kanin haha. Went back to the room to unpack our things and nap. 4pm pa naman ang climb sa Mt. Tapyas. 30mins before our sked time, somebody knocked kala ko nga nananaginip ako.

So ayun nga nag-shower lang sandali then went up Mt. Tapyas.

Me: Kuya, gano kataas iyan?
Boyet: Mga 720+ steps po Ma'm.
Me: ANO!

When we reached the top, ang ganda-ganda!

EEwww..hehe.

Pagbalik sa lodge, nagbanlaw then dinner na. Nagulat kami sa dinner kasi ang dami! Chopseuy at Spicy Crabs lang naman. At ang mga alimango di talangka ha? Talagang alimango! Burp Burp!

Nag-internet kami para makapagluto (Cafe World) and check some emails. Then off to the room na rin dahil manonood pa ng PBB hahaha.

Mistress

As promised (to Mikoy), need to post this one haha

Talagang pinangangalandakan pa niya sa lahat na she's the "other woman" of our recent boxing champ, Manny Paquiao.

Nakakatawa yung driver ng taxi na sinakyan namin last Sunday ni Mikoy from the airport. Kuwento niya pinagtaguan daw ni MP si Ara Mina (the former woman of MP).

hahaha. talbog!

Ang haba ng bigote mo pareng Manny!

Ang nakalagay pa nga daw sa FB account ni KR eh 'In A Relationship' with MP! O kaya niyo yun?!

Another Meteor Shower

Try looking at the night sky on the eve of 17Nov you will see a meteor shower and if you are lucky, a meteor storm. A meteor storm is said to be 1,000 or more meteors per hour.

Radiating from constellation Leo, the Leonids meteor shower occurs annually at this time of the year when the Earth passes through streams of debris left behind by the Tempel-Tuttle comet centuries ago.

And So We're Back!

...from outer space hehe. No, from Coron of course. Had a blast kahit until now my dry cough is killing me parang hinihika na nga ata ako. BUT I am not complaining! I enjoyed every second of my stay in Coron. Last Saturday, we dove 2 ship wrecks, visited a mini hot spring hidden behind the mangroves. Well it wasn't part of our itinerary but our guide was very nice to let us see that spring. Parang may magic door kasi you won't see it from afar. If you are not aware that there is one right there, you will miss that spot.

Our legs are still aching from that climb up Mt. Tapyas and the 170+ steps to Kayangan Lake. In Kayangan, you just have to snorkel around the lake (on the sides) It was like there's a kingdom underwater. All you can see are beautiful rock formations. You just have to be careful while swimming or hitting these rocks because most of them are "spiky" hehe. There was a small cave hidden (again) in between the rocks above the water but didn't attempt to go through it. I am not sure of it.

Do not expect fishes although there are some small ones only on the corners and some small shrimps. I took a pic of some small pointed fishes on my hands but will post it once we're done uploading.

grrr... I forgot where we went after Kayangan Lake...I'm still tired. I'll promise to post a more meaningful one next time.

Anyway, I was not fetched from the airport, so Mikoy and I had a late buffet lunch at Resort World Hotel. It was our first time here and will not come back. Food is not extraordinary.

****
This I am posting out of context: "We may apart but never in my heart" HAHAHA.. Saw this from one of the people in my network at FB and couldn't get over it. hahaha.

all sored (soared) up

After the mt. tapyas climb, we are still experiencing rayuma. well, dunno if it's old age or the lack of exercise, but our kasukasuans suck.

We barely got out of the bed this morning. and saket talga heheh. lintik na tapyas yon kung sino man sya harharhar.

so today, we went island hopping. enjoy naman lalo na si sammie, syempre she was able to see her 'other family', ang mga isda sa ocean. nakakatuwa sila when I was feeding them (kasi sam dove to see the corals), i was left on the boat para magbantay ehhehe.

that's all for now kasi mag CW pa ko heheh

Delayed flight

We were advised that we're going to have a delayed flight this morning. Got a text from Mikoy last night that instead of the 945 flight its going to be 1045. So left the house at 8. Nakakatuwa noh, they do call, text and email their clients to make sure that they'll be informed. In fairness hehe. BUT as Mikoy said, kasi sila lang naman ang madalas nade-delay ang flights, never experienced it from other airlines :)

Since GO LITE lang naman kami never had to wait for our luggages, headed outside to meet our guide.

Rested, well actually took a nap first before heading to Mt Tapyas.

Brackish!

We're here in CORON!!! yey...

Well, kanina while skinny-dippin' in the hot spring (chika lang!), naalala ko lang ang word na to. Brackish kasi ang water, unlike that of Pansol na fresh water lang.

Brackish kasi... there was a day na na encounter ko to twice sa TV, and on both occassion, di-nefine (it was defined) by the hosts. Brackish as being a mixture of sea and fresh water.

So remember kids, when using the word brackish... define it. heheh

Sam will be posting the other chivas for the day. It's fun so far (!!!) !!!

CoroN Getaway

It's our first day here in Coron. We're staying at Coron Village Lodge. We just had dinner - sweet and spicy alimango, mushroom soup and chopsuey. We went hiking at Mt. Tapyas

This is one of the things that you should do when you visit oron. Although tiring but twas worth it when you reach the top. The view is spectacular! 720 steps I think! Going down is easier than going up. Stayed for awhile and took pictures. Got a pic of what they said the gentle giant. Will post pics next time.

After that, went back to the lodge to get our towels and headed to Maquinit Hot Spring.

Have to test the waters first before plunging because its 40 degrees C! Quite 'malumot' in some areas but its a great feeling after all the pawis and pagod sa pagakyat sa Mt Tapyas. Our guide said the mountain got its name from the bomb that hit the mountains before.

Endless Blah Blah’s

While having dinner at Volare Pizza, I was told that I am a 1.5. Well almost reaching one. I could have made it to Top 1 if it weren’t for my “being difficult” sometimes. Hahaha.

Babe, I am glad with my ranking, I don’t want to be on that rank anyway. At least I know I am your ONLY ONE *wink wink* (hihi im so lantod!)

Anyway, their food is very nice. What did we have? Uhmm..ahhh… grrrr. I forgot!!! Basta one the pastas (which is the house specialty) and one sort of sausage patate.

Try it, it’s worth it.

Last Friday, mom and I went to Hard Rock Makati for the Acquaintance Party initiated by her boss. It was her boss’ way to get to know her staff’s loved ones. I couldn’t say I didn’t enjoy the party. I did honestly although I wasn’t able to chat with the others. I am not in the mood to really mingle, I wasn’t feeling well that time. Didn’t even give in to mom’s request for me to sing.

Finally, I’ve met the controversial boss and his family. He is Turkish. The children are sooo cute. Been a babysitter of the eldest child for awhile when we are waiting for the other guests to arrive. We talked about Disney Channel and other cartoons. Good thing I love cartoons and the movies and songs she loves to sing. Hahaha.

So busog with the food! Was home around 12MN but twas fun!

Last night, had buffet dinner at Marriott Hotel.

Hayy…told mommy about it and said we’ll try it on the weekend of her birthday. Yey!!!

Ok I had enough asterisks for today. Oh, before I forget I leveled up again at CW! Whoohh, thanks poks. Mwah!

On being single

This was posted on PDI during the first quarter of the year. I saved this because I loved how it was written. No, I was not single that time. Why am I posting this now? Recently, my friends and I were talking how we will react if somebody asked us about lovelife.

One friend answered, "If I am a working girl, I would have said, 'I am too busy to think about those, have no time; for the family-oriented, I would have said 'I have my family(and friends) what more can I ask for?" Nice one Duy. I love Jod's response to this too. "The question is what will you do to those people who will question you about your lovelife?"Hahaha.

It is important to remember to live your life in the meantime and not stress too much about your future.

Here's the article.

Preparing for single senior-hood

By Alya Honasan
Philippine Daily Inquirer

THE year 2008 didn’t end too well for me. Recurring health problems, crossroads in important areas of life and difficult relationships left me not very enthusiastic about the year to come. As I struggled with a painful gum problem, I thought to myself: here I am, 44 years old, the youngest in our brood of five boys and a girl (with my dad and three of the boys already gone), and by default, the main person taking care of my 84-year-old mother. Not that I resent the job—I love my mother dearly—but it’s really a lot for just one person, and I often find myself wishing that I had a sister to share the load with so we could take care of our mother and each other the way only women can. As it is, I have no sisters, no husband (a matter of choice as much as circumstance), and no children (they were never on the agenda). My two living brothers have their own immediate families, who will naturally take precedence over everybody else. Which led me to the obvious question: When I’m old and unproductive and I’ll need help getting around, who’ll take care of me?

In the last few years, I’ve confirmed the answer, beyond the shadow of a doubt, from my own observations as well as endless discussions with friends in the same boat: I will take care of me. It’s a logical statement, not a sad one. The fact is, I alone will be primarily responsible for myself. Besides, I’ve always thought the idea of bearing a child to have someone take care of you in old age is a selfish agenda, and I think parents who keep drilling this obligation into their kids’ heads and investing in them for this express purpose are laying the groundwork for resentment and dysfunction.

It’s not just me who’s facing this challenge. More and more, I have friends—male, female and otherwise—who are getting older with no prospects of domesticity in their immediate future. Let’s not count a companion/lover/partner, who can appear and disappear just as quickly, but at our age, most of us have pretty much given up on passing on the genes—which means that if and when the partner goes first, you’re back to Square of One.

And yes, we have discussed this, my friends and I—where we will live, how we intend to manage whatever resources we have, what we plan to do when we retire single. Barring any last-minute couplings—which will always be welcome, take note—the current plan among my closest friends and I is a set-up that already exists in many places, a sort of private retirement home where we pool funds for infrastructure, common areas and a shared staff of nurses, drivers and house help. We will have the privacy of individual rooms when we want quiet time and the freedom to plan our own days, but we’ll always have the option of doing things together. After all, aren’t friends supposed to be the blood brothers and sisters you weren’t born with?

The interesting part is, yes, several of us have siblings and nieces and nephews. But we’ve decided we want a lot more security than the thickness of blood over water, and on just banking on the goodness of the hearts of people who will have other things to worry about—and who never signed any contracts to care for the unmarried aunt/uncle.

Dignified life

So can one prepare for solo old age? Maybe not completely, but my friends and I have concluded that there are some things to bear in mind so life is full, pleasant and dignified, even when (or probably because?) you’re alone.

1. Don’t ever, ever assume you will be somebody else’s problem. Sorry for the overstatement but this happens too often for comfort. Of course, all of us wish we could be so smug and naïve. I myself used to kid my oldest nephew and my nieces about looking after me, but that is no longer something I ever plan to bring up. They have their own lives now, and taking care of other people is not in their nature. Although the Filipino family is famously extended, every unmarried, childless person above 40 should never forget that in relation to your siblings’ families, you will always be optional and peripheral, never central. You hover somewhere outside the nucleus of priorities because you didn’t create a nucleus of your own. It’s nothing personal; it’s fate, not tragedy, and the sooner you accept that as a fact of life, the sooner it becomes easy to do your own thing without overblown expectations and hurt feelings.

2. You must manage your resources exceptionally well. Save large chunks of everything you make. What I’ve saved is far from enough to live on, but I reckon I’ve got some time to build that nest egg, and I avoid debts like the plague. You must invest in a place that’s all your own, never mind how big the family home is, how large an inheritance you’re expecting or how much extra space there is in your married brother or sister’s house. A good project I bagged over 10 years ago allowed me to put a down payment on a shoebox of a condo unit in a major commercial center—a shoebox it is, but it’s all mine and it will be enough for me once I’ve scaled down in my older years. (In the meantime, it’s making me some extra cash.) Get professional advice to make sure you invest in good instruments (although the most conservative ones will probably be the best choices now), and to help you calculate how much you should have in the bank to enable you to live decently on interest and dividends. Oh, and make sure your agent sells you a pension plan, not a life insurance plan. You don’t need to leave your money to a beneficiary; you want to have it to take care of your own needs and wants while you’re alive. You will also need to have enough to pay for professional home care if necessary. Speaking of insurance...

3. You must have medical insurance. If you’ve got money to spare, get some above and beyond your company policy, which will most likely end with your retirement, and by then you may be too old to buy personal medical insurance. A single major hospital stint can wipe out a chunk of your retirement fund if you’re not covered. In line with that, do everything you can to stay healthy. Exercise, eat well, don’t stress yourself out—and make it easier to care for yourself in the future.

4. Nurture relationships with friends in the same boat. No, I don’t mean you stop talking to friends who are attached, married or parenting, but your core group should be people with the same concerns and priorities—and believe me, that’s not a problem nowadays. It makes it easier to relate to the same issues, whether you’re feeling good over a career high or bad about being ignored by a favorite niece (like I said, you’re optional).

5. Get your personal network in place. That covers everything from knowing where to go for some counseling to having friends all over the place and a favorite getaway here and abroad that you feel comfortable visiting alone, to shops and services that you can patronize and develop a relationship with.

All that being said, it’s important to remember to live your life in the meantime and not stress too much about your future. Save, but treat yourself when there’s a windfall, because being single means, yes, you can spend the money in the spa instead of on a new pair of youngster’s school shoes (horrors). And if you do have a generous younger relative who repeatedly insists that he/she will take care of you in your old age, be gracious and accept the offer for the blessing it is—but don’t go giving everything you own to charity just yet. After all, for the single soon-to-be senior, the “power of one” takes on a whole new meaning.

So for those who are still single either looking or just waiting for their time to come, don't despair, if it is meant to happen, no matter what you do, he/she will come :)

Carlo's!

Had dinner at Carlos Pizza! Ordered potato wedges with bacon and cheese, regular quattro formaggi, buffalo chicken.

Potato wedges are crunchy, complements well with the bacon and cheese; the pizza is delicious too. Crust so crunchy and taste is not overwhelming. It's nice to put some olive oil with chili (warning: its super HOT so be careful); the chicken? well, like I told Mikoy, i shouldn't be asked when chicken is involved I might be biased :)

Ambience is nice. Very cozy. Well at least for me. Sad to say not so many customers to think it is a weekend and it is located in Malate.

Nakakainis lang un girl-staff who assisted us in parking, pinauspg kami ng pinausog and making a sign like 'an inch forward' adik! Then when we're about to leave, I noticed a car at the back of Mikoy's car parked so near us, like (you are correct) 'an inch' near us.

me: pano naman kaming makakalabas niyan sa tingin mo?
staff: ma'm ipausog ko ho ba?
me: sige please (but wanted to tell her 'malamang!')

Hay...
